Went to my niece, Nawarat’s graduation day at Queen Sirikit’s Convention Center yesterday.
The weather was strange but nice. It was cool and foggy, so unlike Thailand. It reminded me of the weather in the UK (and a bit of my graduation day at Warwick.)
After my graduation nearly 10 years ago, there was no one in our family graduated again until Nawarat. I didn’t care much about graduation ceremony these days, but I am not against it. Looking at my sister (Nawarat’s mom) and my brother-in-law, they were happy and proud. So were Nawarat and her younger sister, Manita.
The graduation day in Thailand has been blown out of proportion for a long while. Graduating from a university was something of prestigious because there were very little people graduated in the old days. Those who did had the honor to receive the degree from the King or members of royal family, and they were expected to do good deeds to the nation.
These days thousands and thousands of students graduated each year, so having a university degree should become less significant. But people still enjoy having the overrated celebration. Lots of flower bouquets were bought, tons of photos were taken.
Yesterday there were probably 2600 graduates. Kay and I estimated about 2.6 millions bath spent on flowers and gifts (our estimation of 1,000 baht per a graduate student should be pretty close).
My Camera has E18 Error :'-(
I took my digital camera to take some photos at the graduation day because I didn’t use it that much. I was too lazy to take picture most of the time, and I didn’t have much special occasion to take pictures.
I took about a dozen pictures and then my camera got that infamous Canon E18 error again. I thought it would go away, but it didn’t, even I had turned on and off my camera a dozen times.
When I went home I had to go on the net and search for this E18 error again to find how to fix it. I have search and read about this error a while back, when I first experienced this error on the last day of my Phu-Luang trip. But it fixed itself, and I didn’t have to do anything, so I kind of didn’t pay much attention on how people fixed their problem.
Now that I went back to find the information, I printed it out so that I have it for my reference. I still have to go through it thororoughly to see if any of other users’ solutions are going to work on my camera.
I have kept my fingers crossed!!
Bird Flu Effect on Chicken Eaters
We (Kay and I) went to have lunch at Hachiban with Kay after we left Queen Sirikit’s Convention Center. Kay wanted to have fried chicken, but they didn’t have that menu. It must be because of the bird flu situation.
This is not good for the chicken farmers. The consumers like us are not afraid to eat chicken or egg, but nobody wants to sell it to us!
